How much to charge for headshots
Headshots are priced per person because every person means another setup, more culling and more retouching. Sample rates: $175 for one person, $125 for each extra person.
- 1 person: $175
- 3 people: $425
- 5 people: $675
- 10 people: $1,300
Add-ons that make sense for headshots: 3 extra retouched images ($60), an extra outfit or background ($40), rush delivery within 24 hours ($100), setting up at the client's office ($200) and travel beyond 25 miles ($50). A team of five at their office is $875.
How much to charge for family photos
Family sessions are priced per session with a small step for each extra person, because a family of six takes longer to pose and edit than a couple. Sample rates: $325 for two people, $20 for each extra person.
- 2 people: $325
- 4 people: $365
- 6 people: $405
- 8 people: $445
Add-ons: an extra hour ($150), 10 extra edited images ($75), a print package with one 8x10 and four 5x7 prints ($120), a 20-page fine art album ($450), a 24x36 wall canvas ($325) and travel beyond 25 miles ($50).
What moves the price in your area
Large metros run higher, small towns lower. Your experience, your reviews and how booked you are matter more than any table. Use these as a starting point and read how to price photography packages. For short, cheaper sessions on set dates, see the mini sessions guide.
